Frequently Asked Questions

What is a skin instant?

Everyone has a different Skin Instant(= how your skin is at this moment in time).

Your personal Skin Instant is constantly evolving within a day and over a lifetime.

The artificial categorization of the skin as normal, dry or oily gives an unnecessarily simplified definition of a skin’s condition and provides only a stationary picture of any epidermal imbalances.

The same epidermis can simultaneously show balanced, dehydrated areas and hypersecretion of sebum.

Improper treatment can easily lead to new imbalances or reactivate old ones.

For example, too aggressive a product for “oily” skin can cause problems with epidermal dehydration; while too rich a product used on previously congested, now seemingly balanced skin can cause a recurrence of the previous condition.

Finally, external factors such as climate, temperature, air conditioning, tobacco and pollution, and internal factors such as stress, hormones, general health, digestion and age also affect the skin.

Can I buy products without a facial?

Certainly, but ideally you will receive a personal consultation in the studio or possibly by mail before you buy our products.

Biologique Recherche products are only available through approved partners who are recognized experts with extensive knowledge and training on Biologique Recherche products, treatments and methods.

As a Biologique Recherche Certified Expert Center, we like to ensure that your desired selection of products is tailored to and appropriate for YOUR skin.

Can I use retinol or retin-a while using lotion P50?

I do not recommend using other exfoliating agents while using P50 (such as scrubs and exfoliating cleansers).

These products tend to strip the skin of its natural protective oils.

P50 is formulated to gently balance the pH of the skin, nourish it and keep it hydrated and plumped.

Do Biologique Recherche products contain preservatives?

Biologique Recherche does not use controversial ingredients as preservatives.

None of the products contain parabens or silicones.

Tips for your home routine
  1. Cleaning:
Soak a cotton pad with “Eau Micellaire Biosensible” or the “Solution Démaquillante Pour Les Yeux” to gently cleanse your face, eyes and décolleté. You should not rinse this off.
  1. Cleansing Milk: (morning and evening)

Apply a small amount of cleansing milk to the face, neck and décolleté with your hands and lightly massage upward.
    Rinse with cold water.

  1. Lotion P50: (morning and evening)
Apply a small amount of your lotion to a cotton pad and gently dab over face, neck and décolleté (do not rub).
During the first two weeks of use, you may choose to moisten the cotton pad before applying your lotion to dilute the product.
  1. Masks:
Apply a generous layer and leave on for 15 to 20 minutes. 2x per week.
Rinse and remove with cold water.
  1. Serums: (morning and evening)
Place 10 drops (or 3 pumps) in the palm of your hand and dab onto the face, neck and décolleté.
    You can layer multiple serums.
  1. Creams: (morning and evening)
After using the serums, apply a hazelnut-sized amount to the face, neck and décolleté.
  1. Finishing Serum: (morning and evening)
Place 5 drops (or 1 to 2 pumps) in the palm of your hand and pat onto the face, neck and décolletage.
  1. Sunblock:
As a final step, apply a generous amount to cover face, neck, décolleté and hands.
(Note: always reapply in case of prolonged sun exposure!)
  1. Eye Contour:
morning: apply a small amount of eye cream and massage lightly until fully absorbed. A custom serum may also be applied before the eye cream if necessary.
Evening: Use only an adapted serum for the eye contour, no cream.
How do I apply the lotion P50?

Apply a small amount of your P50 to a flat cotton ball and gently dab onto face, neck and décolletage, starting at the décolletage and working up toward the face.

During the first two weeks of use, you may choose to moisten the cotton pad with water before applying P50 to dilute it.

The 50 represents 50 days or two epidermal cycles your skin needs to regain balance.

A slight tingling or “pinkness” is normal.

While your skin is getting used to the P50, it is advisable to reduce or stop using products containing acids (AHA/BHAs) or retinols (vitamin A).

This process takes about 4-8 weeks.

Note: The P in P50 stands for exfoliation, as it gently exfoliates your skin so there is no need for additional harsh peels.

Can I use more than 1 serum in my routine?

Depending on the needs of your skin, you can apply different serums as discussed during the skin consultation, maximum 3 authentic serums, 1 targeted serum and 1 finishing serum

What if you live far away and would still like a skin consultation?

An online consultation can certainly be scheduled

How often should I apply a mask?

2-4 times a week, depending on the needs of your skin.

This can alternate between different masks that treat a variety of problems.

Will I see results after an initial facial or are several needed?

You’re going to see some immediate results after your first treatment, but the best way to get long-lasting,optimal results is to consistently maintain a good skincare routine that includes regular facials.

So you’re going to be able to improve the overall health and appearance of your skin over time and maintain these results as well.
